Karen moved to Sherburne as a teenager in 1973. While raising her family, Karen ran a successful home daycare business for 10 years. In 1998, Karen graduated from SUNY Oneonta with honors and a BS in Life Course Studies.
For the past 15 years, Karen has worked for two not-for-profits in Chenango County as a director and grant writer. Her efforts have added approximately $11 million dollars for home rehabilitation and home ownership for low-income families. Karen is a board member for Chenango Housing Improvement Program (C.H.I.P.), the Chenango Housing Counsel and the Homeless Shelter Committee. In August of 2015, Karen took charge of her late husband’s cartoon business and is now self employed. She and her four grown children and grandchildren reside in Sherburne.
